50,000 sq ft outpatient medical center to bring high-quality local healthcare and jobs in 2023
MONTROSE, CO – The Colorado Outdoors Medical Center (COMC) broke ground on its new facility today. The COMC will be a 50,000 sq ft outpatient medical center designed to provide affordable, convenient, high-quality healthcare services in Montrose.
The COMC is a regional medical center that will offer patients access to outpatient surgery specialties such as orthopedics, urology and gynecology, oncology, urgent care, imaging, and other critical healthcare services. The project is partnership-driven and seeks to showcase Montrose’s independent physicians and clinicians and expand services by offering renowned specialties from across the nation. The COMC plans to welcome its first patients in 2023.
The need for high-quality, local healthcare has never been greater, said Colorado Outdoors project founder David Dragoo. Today, the COMC is one step closer to bringing advanced healthcare and new jobs to the Montrose community.
QHR Health, through its subsidiary Velocity Surgical Management, will build and operate the COMC. Velocity Surgical Management has the funding, technology, financial services, clinical partnerships, and physician support services to optimize the operations of the COMC’s outpatient services, said Velocity Surgical Management president Scott Nation.
Outpatient services are projected to increase in volume and be performed more often in outpatient-only medical centers. Additionally, health insurers are requiring more surgeries and procedures be performed in an outpatient setting or an ambulatory surgery center (ASC). The COMC will help the Montrose community capitalize on the market trend towards outpatient care. The new medical center will help to attract patients who live outside of Montrose and Ouray counties and currently choose to access outpatient care elsewhere.
The COMC benefits the citizens of Montrose and the extended community by bringing high-quality, well-paying jobs, multi-million dollar increases to the city’s tax base, and additional economic activity such as sales tax revenues and new residents, emphasized QHR Health CEO Dr. Dwayne Gunter. The COMC helps patients by keeping quality healthcare local, delivering medical services not currently available in the area, and meeting the needs of Montrose’s growing population.
